What to Compare in a Gutter Replacement Estimate
Use this checklist to compare the work behind a gutter price. For an explanation of installation cost factors, see our gutter installation cost guide. For service options, visit gutter installation and drainage services.
Measurements and layout
Ask for the gutter runs, corners, downspout locations, and planned discharge points. Confirm which roof sections are included and how the layout handles runoff.
Materials and installation details
Compare the proposed gutter material, profile, size, finish, hangers, connections, and any gutter guards. Make sure the estimate identifies what is included rather than relying on a single total.
Roof-edge condition
Damaged fascia may need attention before gutters can be securely installed. Ask how hidden wood damage will be documented and approved. Review fascia and soffit repair options when the roof edge is deteriorating.
Removal, cleanup, and maintenance
Confirm whether old gutters will be removed, how debris will be handled, and what maintenance the new system or guards will need. Guards do not eliminate every cleaning task.
Written price and terms
Check exclusions, payment terms, installation timing, product coverage, and workmanship terms. Quotes for different layouts or roof-edge repairs are not directly comparable.
